13. FujiFilmExhibition

As part of the "2008/2009 Nederland in Japan" commemoration of the establishment of Japan-Netherlands diplomatic relations in 1858, and the 400th anniversary of the opening of the first Dutch trading post in Japan in 1609, FujiFilm Company and the Japan-Netherlands Society co-sponsored an exhibition of photographs taken in Japan between 1951 and 1974 by Hans Brinckmann, and between 1957 and 1962 by Ysbrand Rogge, depicting life, culture and natural beauty of Japan during the post-war Showa era.

The exhibition was entitled: "Showa Japan, seen through Dutch eyes", and ran from August 29 to September 30, 2008. It attracted highly favourable reviews and was seen by over 49,000 visitors.
